I don't want to do anything to the radio before I get some good before and after pictures. Looking it over it's actually still in very clean shape, probably because it was in the cabinet. The original owner had to replace the power transformer since the original had a melt down so there is some tar like gunk on the chassis. I managed to find another transformer as well as a second 75A-2A. The A-2A is missing several knobs and I don't know if it is working. I originally bought it as a parts unit, but it looks complete except for the knobs. Ideally I could restore both of them, but we'll see.
As a winter and probably summer project I've decided to restore my first receiver, a Collins 75A-2 that I bought from the orginal owner in 1981 for $100. As I remember it was a fabulous radio and I made lots of CW contacts with it. Later it ended up in closets, garages and numerous storage sheds.
I wanted to start off with some detailed pictures and sort of a before and after, lessons learned etc.
